In case you don’t know what “Inline Frames” are, here’s a brief description. First, frames are in a way similar to a Flash Website, they are not realy good for search engines. An inline frame is placing another webpage in a webpage. I’m sure you have seen a website with links in the left or right column, but have you ever notice one that when you scroll the page up and down the links (Left or Right Column) stays in the same place.

On the other hand, sometime the header stays in place. As you scroll the page, the text slides under the header, and disappears. Often you see inline frames being use as part of a webpage design in the left, right column or even somewhere in the center of a webpage. You will notice another short scroll bar in a square frame that will scroll without moving the main page. Well those are websites with frames. You see iFrames, often in restaurant websites or in supper markets website to display their weekly sales.

Disadvantage of IFrames

• Now day’s it’s not so bad when it comes to modern browsers they can display frames.
• Search engines still have a hard time to index and display a website with frames.
• In some cases, it will cause search engine to display the IFrame without the rest of the page content leaving you with no links to surf the rest of the website and the viewers are left with a webpage design that looks awful.

The reason why this might happen as you might know each webpage has a unique URL. By using frames, we combine two pages together, therefore; we end-up with two URL’s. For those who don’t know what a URL is, it’s a webpage address like websitedesigntoronto.net and websitedesigntoronto.net/about-us.html is another page. Now you can see how confusing it can get for search engines to display two webpages onto your computer screen. Search engines are getting better to display a webpage design that contains iframes, but misshape happens.

When it comes to web search optimization you’re better off staying away from inline frames altogether.
