Why Validate my Website?
W3C Markup Validation is used to clean code errors that might have been left behind by careless website designers. The backend part of a web page that you don’t see is full of codes and if careless, that can lead to, too many code errors. The latter will create difficulties for search engines to crawl a web page.
Validating Codes behind the scene is as important as spell checks your text content for mistakes. It is even more important than spell check a document that only people will read because codes are specifically written for search engines. Therefore, cleaning code errors will enable search engines to crawl the entire web page and even Alexa ranking will be able to give you a better ranking. The latter will even help in some ways to better ranking.
Another problem with code errors is, if you do not validate—clean code errors—a web page will rely on the web browser for correction. Although a page might display properly in the latest version of Internet Explorer, it might display with missing text, content shifted or completely blank in an older version or another browser.
From one browser to another say for example Firefox and Internet Explorer can and will often show a difference, in a webpage. You might even see a bigger difference on Mac or Unix/Lunix. A popular term to define this is “WYSINWOG” meaning “What You See Is Not What Others Get,” therefore, if you are a web designer or website owner remember that not every one uses the same browsers or same version of browsers to view websites on the internet.
Remember a browser that will show a page differently does not mean that it’s been infected with a bug. People build web browsers and people are different, that’s the answer to this problem. Hence, the reason why a web designer should validate a web page and proof the website in a few different browsers.
With W3C Markup Validation Services you can have a website free of errors.
Plus, when we build websites we proof them in several browsers:
- Firefox
- Internet Explorer
- Safari
- Sea Monkey
- Chrome
- Avant Browser
- AOL
- Opera
- Maxton2.
